I'll be spending a week (7 days) in
Niigata and I may even visit some of the
southern breeders. In order to buy
tategoi quality koi I will have to visit
many breeders to find the ones that have
more tategoi than they have room for in
their mud ponds. Which ones those are
can change from one year to another, so
you have to look.
This will be my fourth trip to Niigata
and the first trip I made in the spring
of 2006 I was able to buy some of the
very high quality tosai and even a few
nisai. I've called several of the
clients that purchased these koi from me
and asked them to email me comments
about how those koi developed. So far,
everyone I've spoken with were very
pleased with how those koi have
developed. The recent grand champion at
Atlanta Koi Show was a tosai from Torazo
that I purchased on my first spring
trip. It grew from 8" to 27.5".
The first couple of days I hit as many
breeders as I can to see what they have
available and then I'll go back to the
ones that offer the best koi for the
money.
