Koi Village Ponds

The pond pictured above is the first pond we had dug in 1987. It is 1/4 acre and 8 feet deep. We now have 5 mud ponds and we use four of them for koi and one that is on the other side of the road from our production ponds for filtering water from our holding tanks before it goes to a low lying area in the woods.

Here are a few pictures showing the koi that have been in that pond since May 1997.

This is our largest pond. It is 1/2 acre and 17 feet deep with very steep sides. I estimate it holds 1,000,000 gallons when full. We emptied it completely in 2003. We refilled it and let it set until this spring when we added about 3000 small koi.
